Scenic Bike Paths in The Palm Beaches

The Palm Beaches in Florida are known for their nature, beaches, mangrove forests, and open-air landscapes, standing out as an ideal tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts and bicycle lovers. As an environmentally friendly and healthier alternative, biking is a popular way to get to know the area.

The Palm Beaches offer many experiences for visitors interested in cycling during their visit, whether they are seeking fresh-air relaxation or an adrenaline-fueled adventure.

Cycle Trails with Bike Rentals

The region is home to many bike paths for those who want to visit the city differently. A great place to begin is on the bike path located west of West Palm Beach in Okeeheelee Park, which offers more than 1,702 acres for recreational fun.

Eight miles of paved biking paths, a BMX track, and a four-mile-long mountain bike trail are all available. On-site bike rentals are also located at the park through Kayak King Watersports. Afterward, check out the park’s additional outdoor activity spaces (Shark Wake Park – a waterskiing cable park, exercise course, canoe, kayak, and pedal boat rentals, disc golf, and more).

For those who are looking to start on a beginner’s trail, the Palm Beach Lake Trail takes guests through one of the most historic stretches of Palm Beach. Another key advantage is that you ride along a unique backdrop of luxurious mansions on one side, and the scenic and serene Intracoastal Waterway on the other. The swaying palm trees and yacht sightings add to the vacation vibes.

Stops along the trail include The Royal Poinciana Plaza and The Flagler Museum, among others. The Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop, located at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, is a great starting point since the shop rents bicycles for hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly rates. In Jupiter, Riverbend Park has 10 miles of bike path. The path is about 10 feet wide and is wheelchair accessible. The park is also the site of the Loxahatchee Battlefield – where the second Seminole Indian War was fought.

You can find tributes to the original inhabitants throughout the park. Lush Florida native plants such as tall pine trees and majestic cypress trees provide a picturesque setting of wild Florida’s beauty – a side many visitors haven’t yet experienced.

Tour options, such as the “Pedal and Paddle on the Lake” tour combine biking with canoeing or kayaking on the Loxahatchee River. An interesting fact is that it’s one of only two “Wild and Scenic” designated rivers in the state.

For the adventurers who would rather explore the surrounding areas near their hotels, there are options, too. Several local hotels offer rentals to aid their guests in making the most of their visit by providing on-site bikes, either at cost or complimentary on a first-come, first-served basis. The Colony Hotel, The White Elephant, The Brazilian Court, The Four Seasons Resort and The Breakers, which are all located on Palm Beach, offer bike rentals to their guests.

The Ben in West Palm Beach also boasts on-site bike rentals. The Ray Hotel in Delray Beach has bikes for guests to utilize, as does the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Palm Beaches in Riviera Beach. Also in West Palm Beach is Dyer Park with a 4.8-mile bike path, a 4.6-mile single-track mountain bike trail, and another 2.4-mile track on the park’s hill.

Additional offerings include football and baseball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, and a freshwater lake for fishing. Just south of West Palm Beach in Lake Worth travelers can visit John Prince Memorial Park. It offers 7.24 km of paved bicycle path and easy access to Lake Osborne, one of the largest freshwater lakes in The Palm Beaches. The John Prince Golf Learning Center, John Prince Park Campground, a nature trail, dog park, splash park, and other activities are also found here.

Cycling events

For the avid cycler, The Palm Beaches hosts charitable cycling events throughout the year. One of them is the Bike MS, which will take place between April 6–7 in Boca Raton to raise USD 370,000 for people with multiple sclerosis. During the event, cyclists travel between 40 and 160 km, starting and ending the route at the Boca Raton Innovation Campus.
